The Westmoreland Park officially opened on Thursday, June 27, hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a fun-filled day for community members.
Presentations from Mayor Alonzo Jones, elected officials, and other community locals were held at noon before the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Folks were welcome to stay afterward and enjoy a hot lunch, music, and play.
The park not only features a large playground that has been around for years in the community, but also a basketball court, another new play area, and lots of natural beauty. A walking trail is also in the works and will be added to the park soon.
“Westmoreland Park represents the strength, resilience, and unity of our community. Bringing this vision to life is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Westmoreland Neighborhood Organization, our local residents, and the entire Danville community. We are excited to open this beautiful space for the community to enjoy,” said Clyde McCoy, WNO President.
Magic Bounce provided colorful balloons and bounce houses for the special event.
