Four Dan River Region precision machining students placed in a national competition.
Six students from Danville Community College and Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center travelled to Louisville, Kentucky, for the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference last month.
» DCC student Stephen Chambers placed fourth in the nation in computer numerical control turning, and was awarded a skill point certificate. CNC turning tests the ability to write a CNC program for a part, determine the correct tool offsets, set up the machine and produce the part on a lathe, according to a news release.
» Jenna Rowland, a Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center student, was awarded a skill point certificate for her performance in the “Job Skill Demonstration A.”
