First Round Due Date: March 1, 2013 ( Click here to view the qualifiers)
Second Round Due Date: May 3, 2013
Third RoundDue Date: August 2, 2013
Fourth Round Due Date: November 1, 2013
Final Round Judging: To Be Announced
After the Fourth Round Qualifiers are announced, ALL qualifying photos will be entered in final round judging. Only 12 finalists will be selected. Calendar photos will be judged on the basis of originality, creativity, and the quality of reproduction.
The selected photos will be featured for one month in the 2014 calendar, along with the photographer’s name and photo location. We will also display contact information, and website or business* information at the participant’s discretion. Each chosen photo will be featured on our social media sites and website during the specific month.
After the completion of the contest, we will hold an event to display the best entries and each winner will be presented with a certificate from the Office of Economic Development and two complimentary 2014 calendars.
*Business information does not need to be a photography or visual art business. The photo does not need to include your place of business. Please use this opportunity to promote your local business!
Photos must be large format, preferably 300 dpi (This applies to almost all quality digital cameras. Typically, outdoor daylight photos taken with iPhone 4S and 5 will be large enough format for this application).
Only color slides or prints which present ONE image that is taken within, or associated with, the City of Danville will be accepted. Photographers are strongly encouraged to take pictures that are easily recognizable as being in the city limits.
Horizontal photos will be given preference.
Please be creative!
Digital prints must be emailed or mailed by CD with the original high-resolution TIF, JPG or RAW files (300 dpi at 8" x 10") to be eligible.
Images must be released for reproduction in the calendar and future publications. Winning photographers maintain personal rights to their photograph;
the city is not licensed to release the image rights to a third party.
Photos submitted through the contest become the property of the City of Danville. Because many of the photos showcase the beauty and uniqueness of our community, they may be used for marketing purposes by the City, such as in City print publications, websites, social media and office displays. How do I enter?
By emailing the address above and attaching the proper form, or bringing in a CD or zip drive.
When will I know if I’ve been selected?
Some photos will be announced right away, and used to market the contest for the rest of 2013. All winners will be announced at the end of November 2013.
What if my photo is too large to email?
Please bring a CD or zip drive by 5 p.m. on the chosen due date to:
Office of Economic Development
427 Patton St
How do I know if my photo is large enough?
Do I need to edit my photo?
No, we would rather have the most natural photo you can send. Sometimes, photo editing can lessen the quality of your photo. So unless you have professional equipment or skill, you can send the original file.
